It was in the year 1998 that the Hindi film industry saw a very unconventional debut! Actress Preity Zinta, who was originally the discovery of Shekhar Kapur, somehow had to debut with Mani Ratnam’s “Dil Se”. The leading star cast of the film included Shahrukh Khan and Manisha Koirala.
We called it an unconventional debut, because whenever the industry sees a new face, there is a lot of show involved behind the launch. However, Zinta’s role in the film was hardly of 20 minutes, where she essayed Khan’s fiancée’s role and was devoid of the ‘Zing’ factor. But with her spontaneity the actress succeeded in getting noticed by all.
Later in the same year, she came as the full fledged actress opposite Bobby Deol in “Soldier”. Preity’s extraordinary performance in both the films made her earn the Filmfare Best Female Debut award. From then on she kept on breaking the trends of town.
She did not typecast herself in any particular role, the actress kept on doing experiments. She was always seen taking a different path from all. In the very beginning of her career, she did not hesitate in essaying the role of a “Teenage Mother” in the film “Kya Kehna”. Though she was criticized a lot for this act but when the film turned out to be a great success, all had to bow down before her acting prowess.
Preity has done number of films and has been lucky enough to romance all the Khans of town including SRK, Aamir and Salman. Apart from films she is a business woman too. Zinta is the co-owner of IPL team, King's XI Punjab. As of now Preity is not doing any films but is involved in various other projects.
She is soon planning to make her small screen debut with the show, 'Guinness World Records-Ab India Todega'. Today, Preity is celebrating her 36th birthday and with it the actress is all set to step into another challenging year of her life. Wishing the bubbly actress a very Happy Birthday!
