Macbook Pro Battery Life problems: Tips to Extend Battery life

It has been observed as of late that the Macbook or the Macbook pro users who have purchased their devices in 2006 or 2007 are losing out on battery life of their devices at an alarming rate.

This problem is not being face by one or two user alone, but there are a huge number of users facing trouble with their battery life. Apple has had a very large batch of Sony lithium-ion polymer batteries for their laptops that are losing their maximum charge capacity very quickly.


The battery that is normally accompanied by the Macbook or the Macbook pro is to provide a backup time of 4 hours. Now, if you are one of those users who have recently noticed that their 4 hour battery life is dropping to just two hours or so, then there are some things possible for you to do in this respect. You can check your System Profiler for some information about your laptop battery power system. The System Profile is to be found in Finder => Applications => Utilities => System Profiler.

When you shall have the System Profiler open, then you can find Power underneath Hardware. This item needs to be clicked on, and then you need to scroll down on the right side of the window.

You are required to scroll down till the point you find the heading Battery Information. There are only three values one is interested in, and they are Full charge capacity (mAh), Cycle count, and Battery health. Now you need to check the values in these sections.
